Mission
We exist to expand the choices our unhoused and under-resourced neighbors have when they are sick and when it is time for them to die by providing a community clinic, tiny hospice homes, and street-based Palliative and Hospice Care.
Vision
We envision a Portland in which all people have choice in where they heal and where they die, regardless of their resources, and a model of care rooted in community and harm reduction that is limited only by our imagination.
Values
Interdependence – in our relations with each other and the land.
We understand the strength and stability that comes to all of us when we honor our connections to each other and the land in this great web of life we collectively make up.
We name individualism as the lie that it is, perpetuated to keep us fighting amongst ourselves and furthering myths of scarcity.
We value the generosity of spirit that maintains webs of mutual aid in our city and commit to the collective pooling of abundance for the betterment of all.
Dignity – in making mere existence the baseline requirement to receive care.
We do not worry nor distract ourselves with questions of whether or not those with whom we work should have made the choices they did in their lives.
We do not bother ourselves with discernment about if we would make the same choices they continue to make and do not waste our time trying to push them into different choices.
We are, all of us, existing in this moment, which means we deserve dignity – the dignity of choice, the dignity of personhood, the dignity of having our final wishes honored.
We know that judgment creates separation, turning “us” into “us and them”, and works against the collective strength we have when we honor our connectedness.
Creativity – in solutions, in funding, and in structure.
The problems we face are chronic and complex and we understand that creative solutions are going to lead us out of the current mess. We know that many needs remain unmet in our current approach and we are committed to maintaining our creativity and flexibility to meet people where they are and support them in getting where they want to go.
We choose funding that allows for continued creativity and flexibility and are committed to keeping our footprint sustainable – both environmentally but also in our programmatic reach.
We intentionally structure our shifts to allow our employees more time away from the Farm than on it, understanding that creative solutions thrive when we have time to rest and refresh.
